Clarksdale, Mississippi– As preparations begin for the upcoming football season, the spotlight is shining brightly on a talented group of players returning to the field for Clarksdale High School. With experience, grit, and big-play potential across the roster, several Wildcats are poised to make major impacts this fall—and beyond.

Chris Thomas Jr., returning for his senior season, brings proven versatility and toughness to the backfield. Playing both running back and wide receiver, Thomas finished last season as the fourth-leading rusher with 454 yards and four touchdowns. His biggest impact came late in games, where his fresh legs and physical running style helped wear down opposing defenses. Thomas was a key contributor in the district championship win over Rosa Fort, where he and three other ball carriers combined for more than 350 rushing yards. Coaches are eager to see him build on that momentum and are hopeful to get him exposure at college camps this year.

Another name generating excitement is Braden Johnson, who made a major statement as just a tenth grader. Leaned on heavily throughout the season, Johnson emerged as the team’s second-leading rusher behind Tommy Magsby, finishing with 799 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. He was a critical piece of an offense that piled up more than 3,200 rushing yards on the season. With his combination of speed, vision, and maturity beyond his years, Johnson’s future looks especially bright, and camp opportunities are expected to play a key role in his development.

At quarterback, all eyes are on Trevontae Perryman, the projected QB1 returning for his senior season in 2026. After serving as a backup last year, Perryman has quietly and steadily prepared for his moment. He threw for 384 yards and four touchdowns in limited action, but his breakout performance came in the quarterfinals of the Class 4A playoffs against powerhouse Louisville. In that game, Perryman went 5-of-8 for 170 yards and two touchdowns, providing a glimpse of his potential despite the team falling 34–16 after leading at halftime. While he may not have the prototypical quarterback frame, Perryman has earned respect for his heart, leadership, and readiness. Coaches believe he’s primed for a strong season and are looking to get him in front of college evaluators at camps.

Rounding out the group is Omarion Perryman, a returning senior who embodied toughness and reliability in the Wildcats’ run-heavy attack. Often tasked with grinding out the hard, unseen yards, Omarion was difficult to bring down on first contact. He finished as the team’s third-leading rusher with 744 yards and six touchdowns, proving he can handle a heavy workload as a 30-carry back. His physical style and consistency make him a valuable asset, and camp exposure is also on the agenda for him this year.

With experienced seniors, emerging underclassmen, and a strong rushing identity, the Clarksdale High Wildcats enters the new season with confidence and ambition. As these players continue to develop and gain exposure, the Wildcats—and the city of Clarksdale—have plenty to be excited about heading into the fall.
