Jackson, Miss. (July 20, 2026) — All aboard! Sunflower County families are invited to climb aboard the School Supply Express and for a free back-to-school event designed to put students on the right track for a successful school year. Hosted by the Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health (IAMH), the School Supply Express will pull into Word of Life Church of God in Christ, 1108 Third Ave., Indianola, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1.
Attendees will receive free school supplies, while supplies last. Community organizations will offer health screenings, youth vaping prevention education, resources for expectant and new mothers, housing assistance information, men’s health resources, HIV Screenings (with incentives) and free refreshments.
Made possible through funding from the Mississippi State Department of Health, the School Supply Express will distribute school supplies and community resources on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The event is free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to arrive early.
