Jackson, MS (August 19, 2026) — The Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health takes its mission beyond the four walls of its offices and directly into local communities. From health education and screenings, to vital resources and support, the Institute meets people where they are and helps connect them to the tools needed to live healthier lives. The Institute’s work is more than outreach. It’s the action and impact necessary to reduce health disparities in Mississippi, one community at a time.

Throughout this summer, the Institute has engaged residents from the State Capitol to the Mississippi Delta. By hosting and participating in public health community gatherings, the Institute listens to residents, identifies community needs and connects individuals and families to resources that can make a meaningful difference in their lives. Whether providing prostate cancer information, offering free STI screenings, distributing essential baby supplies or supporting teens who want to quit vaping, the Institute remains committed to removing barriers, building trust and creating opportunities for Mississippians to improve their health outcomes.
