GREENVILLE, Miss. — Greenville residents are being invited to line city streets Friday evening as law-enforcement officers and community members participate in a “Sea of Blue” memorial ride honoring Investigator Myiesha Stewart and Officer Trey Lewis.

The memorial procession is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 9, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Washington County Convention Center, according to information released by the Greenville Police Department. Mississippi Delta Report

Organizers are encouraging families, churches, businesses and community organizations to participate by gathering along the route, displaying flags and using blue lights as the procession passes.

The ride will begin at the convention center before traveling north on Raceway Road, west on U.S. 82 and north on Main Street. The procession will conclude at Greenville’s levee front. Mississippi Delta Report

The event is intended to remember two Greenville officers whose deaths deeply affected the department and the surrounding community.

Stewart was killed in the line of duty in October 2022 while responding to a call in Greenville. Her death prompted an outpouring of support from law-enforcement agencies and residents throughout Mississippi.

Lewis, another member of the Greenville Police Department, is also being remembered through Friday’s procession.

Rather than limiting the remembrance to law-enforcement personnel, organizers are inviting the broader community to take part.

Residents who do not participate in the procession can show support from locations along the announced route.

The gathering provides Greenville with another opportunity to recognize the service of the two officers while showing support for their families and colleagues.

The Sea of Blue begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at the Washington County Convention Center.
