Greenwood Lands Nearly $2.1 Million Manufacturing Investment Expected to Create 13 Jobs

GREENWOOD, Miss. — Greenwood is preparing to welcome a new manufacturing operation following the announcement of a nearly $2.1 million private investment expected to create 13 jobs in Leflore County.

Janus Organization, a manufacturer of specialized waste-treatment equipment, plans to establish operations in the Greenwood-Leflore Industrial Park.

The Mississippi Development Authority announced the project October 2, identifying it as a new industrial investment in the Mississippi Delta.

The company manufactures gasifiers, equipment designed to process certain waste materials through high-temperature treatment.

According to state economic-development officials, the technology can be used to process specialty waste streams, including medical and pharmaceutical waste and materials derived from discarded rubber tires.

The Greenwood facility will manufacture gasification equipment rather than serve as an announced waste-disposal operation.

The company expects to begin operations in mid-2027.

The Mississippi Development Authority is supporting the project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive program, commonly known as MFLEX.

The City of Greenwood and Leflore County are also supporting the investment.

State officials say the project represents another opportunity to expand Mississippi’s manufacturing sector while bringing specialized industrial production to the Delta.

The Greenwood-Leflore Industrial Park provides an established location for industrial development and business recruitment.

For Greenwood and surrounding communities, the project offers the prospect of additional manufacturing employment and private investment.

Thomas Gregory, executive director of the Greenwood-Leflore-Carroll Economic Development Foundation, welcomed the company’s decision to establish operations in the industrial park.

The project also demonstrates the role existing industrial sites can play in attracting companies seeking locations for specialized manufacturing.

Although the investment and employment projections have been announced, the operation has not yet begun production.

The company’s anticipated opening remains approximately nine months away.

Additional information about specific positions, wages and hiring schedules was not included in the state’s announcement.

The project adds another planned industrial operation to Greenwood’s economic-development portfolio as local officials continue working to attract business investment and employment opportunities.
