Clarksdale, Mississippi– Coahoma County, Miss. — The Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded $100,000 in Law Enforcement Support funding through the 2025–2026 Community Project Special Appropriations, a competitive federal initiative made possible by Congressman Bennie Thompson.
The funding will bolster essential law enforcement operations and strengthen public safety initiatives countywide under the leadership of Sheriff Mario Magsby Sr.. Officials say the investment will support day-to-day policing needs while enhancing the department’s ability to serve residents effectively.
Notably, only ten counties across the entire congressional district were selected to receive this funding, underscoring the significance of the award for Coahoma County. The selection highlights the Sheriff’s Office’s continued commitment to professionalism, accountability, and community-focused service.
County leaders and law enforcement officials expressed gratitude to Congressman Thompson for his sustained advocacy on behalf of local agencies. The appropriation reflects a broader effort to ensure departments have the resources necessary to keep communities safe and responsive to emerging needs.
With the new funding, the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office plans to further its mission of protecting residents, supporting deputies, and advancing public safety initiatives throughout the county.
