CLEVELAND, Miss. — Labor Day evening will bring another round of live Mississippi music to downtown Cleveland as the Delta Deep Roots Fall Series continues with Delta Sun & Brisket.
The duo is scheduled to perform Monday, Sept. 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bar Fontaine, located at 215 Cotton Row.
Delta Sun & Brisket features Mike “Delta Sun” Slaton and Chris “Brisket” Livingston, two Mississippi singer-songwriters whose performances draw from the state’s deep musical traditions.
The appearance is part of Delta Deep Roots’ 2026 Fall Series, an ongoing effort to showcase musicians connected to Mississippi and the broader roots-music tradition.
For Cleveland, the series adds another layer to a downtown already closely tied to the state’s music history.
The city is home to GRAMMY Museum Mississippi and sits within the Mississippi Delta, a region whose blues, gospel, country and roots traditions have influenced generations of American musicians.
The Deep Roots series gives local audiences and visitors a chance to hear that musical heritage in smaller, live settings throughout the community.
Monday’s Labor Day performance also provides residents with a local entertainment option as the holiday weekend comes to a close.
The series will continue Tuesday, Sept. 8, when Guitar Frenchie performs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Backdraft, 337 Cotton Row.
Additional performances are planned throughout September.
For restaurants, bars and other downtown businesses, recurring music events can also help generate evening foot traffic while giving musicians opportunities to perform before both local residents and visitors.
Monday’s Delta Sun & Brisket performance begins at 7 p.m. at Bar Fontaine.
