CLARKSDALE, Miss. — The Clarksdale Marks Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is inviting community members to take an active role in shaping the future of their communities by participating in its upcoming Delta Voice in Action Social Action Series.

The virtual session, “Know Your Power: Voting & Local Impact,” will be held Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 7:13 p.m. via Zoom as part of the chapter’s monthly initiative centered around the theme, “In a Time Such as This.”

Designed to educate, advocate, and mobilize citizens, the discussion will focus on the importance of civic engagement and how informed voting can influence the direction of local communities.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of why local elections matter, including the critical roles played by mayors, school board members, judges, and other local elected officials. The session will also explore how government policies directly affect everyday life by shaping schools, healthcare, neighborhoods, and other essential community services.

In addition, attendees will receive information about Mississippi’s voting structure and learn how becoming informed voters can create meaningful, lasting change.

Organizers hope the event will encourage residents to become more engaged in the democratic process while recognizing that every vote has the power to strengthen communities.

“What will your action be?” organizers ask. “Join us to talk about important issues.”

The event reflects Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated’s longstanding commitment to public service and civic engagement through education and advocacy. By equipping citizens with knowledge and encouraging participation, the chapter aims to inspire individuals to use their voices to make a positive impact where they live.

The Clarksdale Marks Alumnae Chapter reminds residents that their vote is their voice, and their voice has power. Through conversations like these, the organization hopes to empower community members to become informed, involved, and committed to creating positive change.

Community members are encouraged to join the free virtual session:
