Clarksdale, Mississippi– On October 20, 2026, Meraki hosted its annual Sunset Yoga event on the lawn of the Delta Blues Museum. The event featured an hour-long yoga session led by Jackie of Delta Yoga Collective and an art session led by Thaxton Waters, visual arts director at Griot Arts.
Warm vocals from a speaker complemented the soft autumn breeze as participants stretched and relaxed beneath the setting Delta sun.
The event also featured Halloween-themed arts and crafts, including a pumpkin-painting table and a community painting activity. These activities gave parents the freedom to relax and fully engage in the yoga session.
Through events like this, Griot Arts continues to offer creative and holistic experiences for students and the community.
Javette White, director of dance and movement at Griot Arts and the event’s organizer, reflected on the importance of creating opportunities for connection and renewal.
“We are a gem here in the Delta and people come here inspired. But sometimes as a community we lose hope because we can’t see it. So I’m so thankful to be able to bring this opportunity to parents and the community to have a moment to relax and feel empowered in their hometown.”
Thank you to Meraki and its supporters for continuing to make a positive impact on our community!
