FRIARS POINT, MISSISSIPPI — In one of the most significant rural economic announcements in the Mississippi Delta in recent years, a four-organization coalition has launched an ambitious strategy to transform Friars Point into a center for workforce development, business expansion, and long-termregional investment.

The Omicron Pi Foundation–Mississippi, Friars Point Economic Development Association (FPEDA), MBJ Enterprises LLC, and Black Wall Street Friars Point, Mississippi today unveiled the Resurrection of Friars Point Project—a comprehensive economic growth initiative designed to create jobs, activate dormant properties, attract private capital, and build generational wealth.

“This marks a turning point for Friars Point. We are not simply rebuilding structures—we are rebuilding an economic foundation that can support families, businesses, and future generations.”

A Regional Strategy — Not Just a Local Project

Structured to serve as an economic catalyst beyond town limits, the initiative aligns workforce training with active redevelopment efforts to ensure investment translates into immediate job creation and measurable growth.

Key Economic Targets Include:

• Creation of living-wage career pathways

• Expansion of the regional skilled workforce

• Revitalization of underutilized commercial corridors

• Growth of minority and locally owned enterprises

• Increased property values and municipal revenues

• Attraction of employers and strategic industry partners

Workforce Training to Power the Transformation

(Partnership with Coahoma County Community College — Pending Final Confirmation)

At the center of the strategy is a planned Workforce Training Program designed to prepare residents for high-demand industries including skilled trades, agriculture, historic restoration, entrepreneurship, and sustainable infrastructure.

Building on Active Momentum

Historic Friars Point Negro Cemetery Recovery is advancing cultural preservation while positioning the community to benefit from heritage tourism.

Friars Point Youth Community Gardens is evolving into an agricultural workforce and microenterprise pathway aligned with one of Mississippi’s strongest economic sectors.

Infrastructure Resurrection Efforts are restoring vacant and underperforming properties, stimulating construction activity and preparing sites for future business occupancy.

Regional Membership Drive Invites Public Participation

FPEDA is launching a Regional Membership Drive calling on residents, businesses, investors, and philanthropic leaders to help shape the future of Friars Point.

Positioned for Major Investment

With unified leadership, active programs, and a workforce-centered development model, Friars Point is rapidly emerging as a high-potential destination for public-private partnership.

A Generational Opportunity

The Resurrection of Friars Point Project is more than a revitalization effort—it is the launch of a regional economic transformation.
