Clarksdale, Miss. — Golfers, business owners and community supporters will have an opportunity to help Mississippi Delta students continue their education when Coahoma Community College hosts its annual Scholarship Golf Tournament on Friday, October 23.
The event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at Tunica National Golf & Tennis.
The tournament is part of Coahoma’s 2026 Homecoming celebration.
However, organizers emphasize that the event serves a purpose beyond recreation: helping students overcome financial obstacles that might otherwise prevent them from completing college.
According to the college’s tournament information, approximately 97% of its students require some form of financial assistance.
The college identifies financial hardship as a major challenge facing students pursuing higher education.
Tuition is only one part of the cost of attending college.
Students may also need assistance with textbooks, transportation, equipment and other educational expenses.
The Scholarship Golf Tournament was established to help address financial shortfalls.
Coahoma reports that the tournament has distributed more than $300,000 in student assistance over its history.
That figure is the college’s reported cumulative total, not an independently audited amount. Coahoma Community College
The tournament will use a four-person scramble format.
Under this format, team members play from the selected best shot, allowing golfers with different experience levels to participate together.
The event is designed to encourage friendly competition while supporting the college’s fundraising efforts.
Registration information identifies an individual player fee of $125.
A team sponsorship is available for $500.
Businesses and organizations can also participate through sponsorship packages.
Sponsorship Opportunities Available
The college offers several levels of sponsorship.
Hole sponsorships begin at $100.
Bronze sponsorships range from $1,000 to $4,999.
Silver sponsorships range from $5,000 to $9,999.
Gold sponsorships range from $10,000 to $14,999.
Platinum sponsorships range from $15,000 to $19,999.

Scholarships Can Change Career Paths
Coahoma highlights former scholarship recipient Charneshia Word as an example of the program’s impact.
According to the college, scholarship assistance helped Word pursue training and become a certified respiratory therapist.
Her experience illustrates how relatively modest financial support can help students complete programs that lead to professional credentials.
However, the college has not published a verified number of students expected to receive assistance from the 2026 tournament.
That figure will depend on fundraising results and subsequent scholarship decisions.
Homecoming Adds to the Celebration
The tournament will take place during Coahoma’s October 19–24 Homecoming Week.
The celebration also includes concerts, alumni gatherings, a parade and Saturday’s football matchup against Northeast Mississippi Community College.
For alumni and supporters, the golf tournament provides another opportunity to reconnect with the college while contributing to its educational mission.
How to Participate
The tournament is scheduled for Friday, October 23, at Tunica National Golf & Tennis, 1 Champions Lane in Tunica Resorts.
Participants can register through the college’s official tournament webpage.
Residents and businesses interested in supporting the scholarship fund may also make donations.
The college identifies Karen Done and Trina Cox as tournament contacts.
The fundraising total and number of scholarship recipients will be determined after the event.
For Coahoma Community College, the tournament represents an opportunity to turn community participation into direct support for students pursuing their education.
