Jackson, MS (August 21, 2026) — Want to make a difference in the lives of Mississippi mothers and babies? Become a Community Health Navigator. The Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health will offer free Community Health Navigator Training Sept. 14-17, 2026.
During this four-day virtual training, participants will learn how to connect expectant mothers with prenatal care and community resources. Trainees also will learn how to assist families with Medicaid, WIC, and other support services.
Session topics will include:
- community Health Worker core competencies
- maternal and infant health
- community outreach and engagement
- care navigation and referrals
- social determinants of health
- trauma-informed and culturally responsive care
- communication and professional ethics
- documentation and confidentiality
No prior health care experience is required. The training is open to anyone interested in helping to improve maternal health outcomes in Mississippi. Interested participants can register at https://bit.ly/4bOQFps.
