By MDA Staff Writer | October 12, 2026

MOORHEAD, Miss. — A Mississippi Delta Community College administrator is taking his experience in student enrollment and college access to a national conversation about educational opportunity.

Dr. Kylon Alford-Windfield, MDCC’s vice president of enrollment management, has been appointed to the College Board’s National Advisory Committee for A Dream Deferred: The Future of African American Education, the college announced.

The appointment carries a three-year term and places a Mississippi Delta higher education leader among advisers helping inform discussions about expanding educational access and supporting student success.

Bringing Delta experience to a national discussion

In his role at MDCC, Alford-Windfield works in enrollment management, a field concerned with helping students navigate entry into college and continue toward their academic goals. His experience with college access and student success will inform his service on the advisory committee.

The College Board’s A Dream Deferred initiative focuses on issues affecting educational opportunities and outcomes for African American students. Advisory committee participation offers an avenue for leaders from institutions such as MDCC to contribute perspectives from the communities they serve.

For Mississippi Delta students, questions of college affordability, access to information and the transition from high school to higher education can shape future options. Community colleges play a key role by offering academic, career and technical pathways close to home.

Recognition for a Delta institution

The appointment highlights the experience of a college administrator working in the Delta while connecting that work with a broader national initiative. MDCC serves students across the region through programs designed to support transfer to universities, workforce preparation and career advancement.

The college announced the appointment as part of its institutional news coverage. No additional responsibilities or specific policy recommendations by Alford-Windfield had been independently confirmed at the time of publication.
