Four Names Added to a Century of Athletic History
The Athletics Hall of Fame recognizes individuals whose achievements and service have contributed to the development of Mississippi Delta Community College athletics.
For the 2026 celebration, the recognition carries additional significance because it coincides with the college’s centennial anniversary.
Thomas, Brooks, Holmes and Jones represent the newest group selected for recognition during this historic homecoming.
Their inclusion provides an opportunity for the college community to reflect on the role athletics has played in developing student leadership, encouraging teamwork and strengthening relationships among generations of Trojan supporters.
While individual career accomplishments were not detailed in the reviewed October 14 report, the college’s decision to recognize the four highlights their contributions to its athletic history.
Homecoming Celebration Continues Friday
The Hall of Fame ceremony is one part of a larger homecoming celebration recognizing Mississippi Delta Community College’s 100-year history.
The college’s official calendar also lists a homecoming football game against Coahoma Community College for Friday, October 16, at 7 p.m.
The matchup brings together two institutions with deep roots in Mississippi Delta education and athletics.

Athletics Remain an Important Part of the College Experience
Since its establishment in 1926, Mississippi Delta Community College has served generations of students seeking higher education and career opportunities.
Athletic programs have been part of the institution’s broader student experience, providing opportunities for competition, personal development and community involvement.
The college continues to support student-athletes across multiple sports.
Earlier this year, MDCC announced that all five students selected for its 2026 Student Hall of Fame were student-athletes.

For Mississippi Delta Community College, its centennial celebration is not simply about marking the passage of 100 years.
It is also an opportunity to recognize the individuals whose accomplishments helped establish the college’s identity.
The Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony honors that tradition by acknowledging former athletes and coaches whose contributions remain part of the institution’s history.
As alumni and supporters gather for homecoming activities, the recognition of Thomas, Brooks, Holmes and Jones adds another chapter to the college’s anniversary celebration.
