Serving Hope: Clarksdale Churches Feed More Than 300 in Community Outreach

By: Yasmine Malone | October 30, 2026

CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Haven Methodist Church and Clarksdale Methodist Church joined forces on October 25, 2026, serving hot meals to more than 330 people through a shared ministry dedicated to helping neighbors in need.

The churches partner in the ongoing effort, which takes place on the third or fourth Saturday of each month. The ministry provides meals to people who may lack access to hot food on weekends, including those connected to Care Station and Federation Towers.

Lorraine Cancer and Dr. Carole Mangrem serve as the ministry’s primary organizers and cooks, helping sustain the effort. Mangrem has played a key role in keeping the ministry active and ensuring that those in need continue to receive support.

Beyond providing meals, the churches hope to inspire more young people to carry on the tradition of community service. Organizers believe that encouraging the next generation to volunteer will help keep the ministry strong for years to come.

Anyone interested in volunteering or making a contribution can contact Haven Methodist Church to learn how to help.

Through their continued partnership, the churches are demonstrating how compassion, a hot meal and a willingness to serve can bring a community together.
