SUNFLOWER COUNTY, MS — The Sunflower County Consolidated School District recently held its highly anticipated District Spelling Bee, bringing together some of the brightest young scholars from across the county for a competition filled with excitement, focus, and academic excellence.
The atmosphere was intense and nerve-racking as students stepped to the microphone, carefully spelling complex and challenging words in front of judges, teachers, family members, and peers. Each participant demonstrated courage, preparation, and determination, making the event a true celebration of academic achievement.
After several competitive rounds, Ca’Niyah Nunnally of Ruleville Central Elementary emerged as the 1st Place Champion, earning top honors for her outstanding performance and composure under pressure.
The competition for second place was equally impressive, resulting in a tie. Serenity Bridges of Ruleville Central Elementary and Kennedy Love of Carver Elementary both delivered exceptional performances to secure the 2nd Place (Tie) title.
District leaders expressed pride in every student who participated, noting that spelling bees not only strengthen vocabulary and language skills but also build confidence and public speaking ability.

Representing Carver Elementary: Chezaria Holmes and Erica Walker.
From Ruleville Central Elementary: Ivy Smith.
Representing Ruleville Middle School: ZeNovia Morgan, Ariane Walker, and Cassidy Cox.
From Moorhead Central: Zayden Allen, C’Miyah Fairley, and Arielle Ingram.
Representing Drew Hunter Middle School: Saniyah Covington, Sabrina Vaughn, and Alayna Rivera.
From A.W. James: Jaida Jones, La’Niyah Winston, and Tyson Hampton.
Each scholar displayed tremendous dedication and preparation, reflecting the strong academic culture within the Sunflower County Consolidated School District. Events like the District Spelling Bee highlight the district’s commitment to literacy, excellence, and student achievement.
