Clarksdale, MS – As spring arrives, so do renewed efforts to revitalize infrastructure across the city of Clarksdale.

Clarksdale Public Works has begun making the city safer and more comfortable for residents by repairing drainage systems and sidewalks in neighborhoods throughout the area.

For years, drainage issues have caused concern for residents in the Russwin, Spruce, and Vincent areas of Oakhurst. These neighborhoods have long dealt with flooding and the burden of trash cleanup after heavy rainfall. Addressing these issues is expected to reduce flash flooding, property damage, driving hazards, and clogged plumbing during downpours.

Downtown Clarksdale, particularly along Sunflower Street, is also undergoing sidewalk reconstruction. These improvements will make walking safer and more comfortable for pedestrians, especially children traveling to and from MLK Park.

These upgrades represent just a portion of the ongoing efforts by the current administration to improve quality of life for residents while also enhancing the city’s appeal to visitors.

For more information or to report infrastructure concerns, residents are encouraged to contact their Ward Commissioner. Stay updated on city improvements and report similar developments to Clarksdale Public Works.

Additional updates from Clarksdale and the Greater Mississippi Delta area will be featured in Mississippi Delta Advocate News.
