Clarksdale, Mississippi– Community members, survivors, advocates, and families recently gathered for the 4th Annual Sexual Assault Awareness Walk, an event designed to bring healing, hope, and empowerment to those affected by sexual violence.
The annual walk is organized by local counselor, advocate, and founder and CEO of Inspirational LLC, Teresa Poindexter, who said the event continues to grow each year as more people come together to support survivors and raise awareness about sexual assault.
“The event serves as a beacon of healing, hope, and empowerment for those affected by sexual violence,” said Poindexter. “Sexual assault remains one of the most underreported crimes in the nation, leaving many survivors suffering in silence.”
Poindexter emphasized the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment for survivors and their families.
“Survivors need to know they are not alone,” she said. “This walk is about creating a space where people feel supported, believed, and empowered. Every step we take together sends a message that healing is possible and that our community stands with survivors.”
As a mental health professional, Poindexter has dedicated much of her career to serving individuals affected by trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and child sexual abuse. Through her work with Inspirational LLC, she continues to advocate for mental health awareness and provide support services to those in need.
Participants in the walk shared stories of courage, strength, and recovery while honoring the lives of those affected by sexual abuse and violence. The event also served as an opportunity for survivors to connect with others who understand their experiences and journey toward healing.
Poindexter said she hopes the annual walk will continue to grow and inspire change throughout the community for years to come.
“Our goal is to create a community where survivors are treated with dignity, where healing resources are accessible, and where future generations can live free from violence,” she said.
Inspirational LLC, founded by Poindexter, is a counseling and advocacy organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by trauma and mental health challenges.
