CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Musicians looking to deepen their connection to Mississippi blues will gather near Clarksdale beginning Tuesday for a five-day immersive guitar and bass workshop.

The Crossroads Blues Guitar & Bass Workshop is scheduled for Sept. 15-19 at the Shack Up Inn, located at 10 Commissary Circle Road near Clarksdale.

The workshop is designed for blues guitar and bass players at different skill levels and focuses on both musical technique and ensemble playing.

According to the program’s official website, participants work on acoustic and electric blues styles, including fingerstyle, slide playing and ensemble concepts. The workshop also includes opportunities to jam, record and receive individual instruction.

Organizers describe the program as an immersive experience, with a limited number of participants and approximately one instructor for every five or six attendees.

The location adds another dimension to the experience.

The Shack Up Inn sits outside Clarksdale in the Mississippi Delta, placing visiting musicians near communities and landmarks closely associated with the development of the blues.

For Clarksdale, programs such as the workshop contribute to a broader music-tourism economy built around live performances, festivals, museums, workshops and the city’s internationally recognized blues history.

Visit Clarksdale lists the September workshop among the city’s official 2026 cultural offerings.

The five-day session begins Tuesday and continues through Saturday, Sept. 19.
